Manual starters are devices operated manually, featuring simple operation without requiring expert intervention. These starters include a button or rotary knob that enables users to turn connected equipment on or off through mechanical linkages that open or close contacts.

Important Note: Manual starters do not break control circuits during power loss, which means motors could restart automatically when power returns. This may require safety considerations in certain appliions.

When the engine is activated (via stop/start button or traditional key), an electrical signal is sent to the starter solenoid. This component transfers power from the vehicle's battery to the starter motor, which then engages the starter drive (Bendix gear) with the flywheel.

The starter motor cranks the engine to initiate combustion in petrol and diesel vehicles. Once the engine is running, the mechanism disengages the starter motor from the flywheel as the engine no longer requires the electrical spark to maintain operation.
